Ghana Confident Ahead of Germany Friendly, Says GFA President Kurt Okraku
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed confidence that the Black Stars are no longer intimidated by football giants, ahead of their upcoming friendly against Germany.
Speaking at a fundraising event for Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Okraku highlighted a noticeable change in the mindset of the national team under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo.
“In the past, hearing that Ghana would face Germany could make anyone nervous,” Okraku said. “Today, our players are confident and well-prepared. They are ready to take on any top-level opposition.”
Okraku credited the transformation to the tactical growth and mental strength instilled by Addo and his coaching staff, praising the systems put in place that have strengthened the squad’s self-belief.
The friendly match, set for March 30, 2026, in Stuttgart, Germany, will offer a critical opportunity for the Black Stars to test themselves ahead of the World Cup. Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
Rejecting any notion that Ghana might be seen as underdogs, Okraku insisted: “We fear no opponent. This team is built to compete at the highest level and make the nation proud.”
The upcoming fixture is more than just a friendly—it’s a statement that Ghana is evolving into a confident, fearless force in international football.
