Family Calls for Exhumation of Hellen Kamutumbe Amid Murder Allegations
Kalumbila, 26 March 2026 – The family of the late Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe has appealed to authorities for urgent intervention following growing tensions surrounding her burial. The 46-year-old mother of six was recently laid to rest in her village in Kalumbila, but some relatives have questioned the circumstances, describing the process as rushed and suspicious.
Concerns intensified after a video circulated by Prime Television Zambia, in which one of Kamutumbe’s sisters called for her body to be exhumed. She alleged that certain individuals within the village may have been involved in her sister’s killing.
Speaking emotionally, the sister questioned why the burial was conducted at night and suggested there may have been an attempt to conceal critical details.
“What pains me is that my sister was buried at night in the village. Why the rush? What were they trying to hide?” she asked.
She went further to claim that those responsible for the burial could be connected to the murder itself, alleging a coordinated effort among some relatives.
In her appeal, she urged government authorities to step in and ensure justice is served, insisting that several individuals linked to the case remain free.
“I’m pleading with the government—many people are involved in my sister’s death. She had made it clear she didn’t want to be buried in the village. Mr. President, please help us exhume her body and bring those responsible to justice,” she said.
The family’s demands have since sparked widespread discussion online, with many calling for a thorough investigation into both the death and the burial process. As of now, authorities have not issued an official response regarding the request for exhumation or the allegations raised.
